The home for your travel stories, journal entries and gonzo wanderings. It's a travel writer's free-for-all; stories, yarns, accounts; history, anthropology, philosophy and "What I did on my summer holiday' scribblings.

The trouble with travel photography, as we see it, is that a professional photographer, travelling the world looking for a photo to sell, is never going to produce anything we recognise from our journeys. Just for a change we'd like to see some photos from the backpacker trail that weren't taken with a $4000 camera. What have you got..?

What's being done out on the backpacker trail to make our journeys more sustainable? If you've visited or worked on a project trying to lessen the impact of our journeys, let us know about it. Maybe you work for a charity or NGO which promotes sustainable development or works in the tourism sector. Please get in touch and tell us what you do.

Our Phrasebooks are Full of words and phrases you really need as a backpacker. Have a look at our list and if you speak a langauge which doesn't appear here, or have some suggestions for one which does, get in touch and we'll send you the template.

What have you learned on your trips? truth be told our 'guides' contain less practical information than one might expect from something called a 'guide'.They are quite funny though...

Grievances, piss-takes, rants, raves and polemics. Generation -ex, why? And SEE?!

more than footprints? is written by contributors from over 30 different countries and they send us stuff they've written sitting on trains crossing India, standing on buses in Mexico City, or lying on beaches just about everywhere. What's in your journal? get in touch at morethanfootprints@day12.com

Our contributors' writing reflects the reality of travel not the myth the travel magazines promote where every sunset is golden and every street kid has a smile.

We travel closer to the ground, sometimes too close, and we learn more, or at least, should learn more, from the people we meet on our journeys. Travel is great but there are serious issues about the numbers of backpackers trampling the world's temples and the amount of money we spend has a serious impact on the places we visit. more than footprints? wants to hear what you think about the recent growth in backpacking. How can we address those issues? more than footprints? is a very positive opportunity to help our community change the way we travel. With your help we can spread the word. Have a look through your journals and send us an article. Have a look through your photos and send us a selection for our photo galleries.

If you know of anyone who would be interested in writing for the magazine or sending us some photos, get them to write to us at morethanfootprints@day12.com
